Sant Gadge Maharaj Mahavidyalaya, Hingna was started in the year 1990. The college is managed by the society, Basaveshwar Education Society, Nagpur registered under BPT Act XXI of 1960/507/70/ & Bombay Public Trust 1950/F.1974.

Our institution was founded by Late. Dr. Sudhakar Someshwar Moglewar with an objective to provide access to quality education to students in rural area. Dr. S. S. Moglewar was a renowned literary educationist and author inspired by thoughts and teachings of Shri Basaveshwar Maharaj. Dr. S. S. Moglewar with his dedication, devotion, determination and with motto of, "Empowerment Through Education and Education For All", lead this college get permanent affiliation from the UGC in the year 1999 as one in Hingna Tahasil. Our beautiful campus is situated on the banks of Vena River in 3.5 acre. Students can study Arts, Commerce, Science, MCVC courses (Vocational course) at our college. We have a dedicated 22 teaching and 13 non-teaching family members.

We as a family believe in four pillars of education system such as Professors, Students, their Parents and Government. Our professors try to reduce the communication gap between these pillars by helping students avail government benefits such as scholarships, by conducting parents teachers meet to inform parents about the development of their pupils and to accommodate their queries if any. Our dedicated family of professors lay emphasis on imparting life oriented education and not merely job oriented. For the very same purpose our students are encouraged to compete in events such as sports, quiz, debates, art and science exhibitions, cultural events and also to attend seminars and conferences. Our colleges runs a dedicated National Service Scheme (NSS) cell to educate students about the importance of giving back to our society and I feel proud to inform that in memory of Dr. S. S. Moglewar our NSS cell has adopted Ukhri Village in Hingna Tahasil, Dist. Nagpur forever and will work for the economically and socially students of the village.

Our college boosts of a facilities like playground, botanical garden, auditorium, library, computer, language and science laboratories, dedicated students and staff parking, first aid room, canteen and stationery shop, etc.
